Reducing Vulnerability from Climate Change (RVCC) in Foothills, Lowlands and Lower Senqu River Basin Project

Sustainable Land Management (SLM) & Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) Exhibition

The RVCC Project implemented by Ministry of Forestry, Range and Soil Conservation in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is organizing the SLM and CSA Exhibition on the 30th May 2018 at Thaba Mokhele Community Council in Mohale’s Hoek.

The exhibition is meant to:

·          Showcase Climate Smart Agriculture/Sustainable Land Management and rehabilitation activities undertaken in the project sites.

·          Raise awareness on climate change; and

·         Promote adoption of SLM/CSA practices in the participating communities to increase the number of households across three Community Councils in Mohale’s Hoek adopting climate-smart livelihood strategies.

The RVCC Project aims at mainstreaming climate risk considerations into the Land Rehabilitation Programme of Lesotho for improved ecosystem resilience and reduced vulnerability of livelihoods to climate shocks by:

i)                   enhancing the capacity of government institutions and local communities to mainstream climate change risks into policies, strategies, plans and programmes,

ii)                Implementing climate-smart ecosystem rehabilitation and management measures using a community/household based approach and

iii)              Mainstreaming climate change adaptation into local and national development planning and finance.

The project, is being implemented in three Community Councils: Lithipeng, Thaba Mokhele and Khoelenya in the Mohale’s Hoek district.
